Tarija Restaurants

"Places to eat in Tarija, Bolivia"

Tarija's food culture is greatly influenced by Argentina since it borders the country. You'll find many restaurants where you can get some great tasting beef along with some local wine. You can also find the typically Bolivian dish along with international cuisines.

Below is a short list of restaurants, bars and cafes that are worth a try. Feel free to add your own to the list.


Café Mokka
This cafe overlooks Plaza Sucre in the city center with outdoor seating. They serve espresso and crépes in the morning and other typical cafe drinks. To eat they serve sandwiches, pastas and meats served for lunch and dinner. Upstairs there is internet access available for 4Bs per hour.

Chingo's
Located off of Plaza Sucre. Serves lunch and dinner. You can find steaks, sandwiches, burgers, rice, potatoes and salads at great prices.

Churrasquería El Rodeo
Argentine style restaurant that serves up juicy steaks.

Location: Oruro #749, Parque Bolívar


Café Campero
This cafe and bakery is a convenient place to get bakery items such as breads, cakes and pastries.

Location: Calle Campero #765, near city center


Chifa New Hong Kong
Great place to go for some good Chinese food. Main dishes are huge and cost about $3.50 (28Bs).

Location: Sucre #235, Sucre and Victor Paz


Don Pepe
Popular restaurant during the weekends when there is live music. Open-air restaurant with great value meat dishes.

Location: Daniel Campos & Las Americas


Mateos
Restaurant serves great four-course almuerzo (lunch) for around $3.50 (28Bs). Indoor and outdoor seating is available.

Location: Trigo & Madrid


El Tropero
Popular lunch spot among locals. Steaks and salads at great prices.

Location: Calle Lima #226


Club Social Tarija
Traditional almuerzos (lunches) that is popular among the locals.

Location: 15 de Abril #271, Plaza Luis de Fuentes
