Restaurants in La Paz, Bolivia
La Paz restaurants offer excellent value for your money. The restaurants in La Paz will be much cheaper compared to what you pay at home. Much cheaper in fact, probably half of what you pay at home. Making it all the better reason to travel Bolivia, especially if your on a tight budget. La Paz offers a wide variety of eateries, from fine dinning to street vendors. All of which are worth a try. In the cheapest ranges, such as tiny store front eateries or street vendors, their isn't much variation. Most is local Bolivian food that serve saltenas, empanadas, chicken and beef. Most of the fancier restaurants and mid-range restaurants in La Paz are at the lower end of the Prado, around the vicinity of Plaza Isabel and Plaza Avaroa. Where you'll find a variety of international foods, such as pastas, meats, veggies, soups, salads and of course the local food. Here is a list of places to eat that I think are worth a try. If you know of any more good eateries, feel free to add your own. - Surucachi located on Av. 16 de Julio #1598, is very popular lunch spot with cheap prices. They serve typical Bolivian food, such as rice, fried chicken, soups, salads and trout.
- El Gaucho Restaurant located on 20 de Octubre #5696 is a classy Argentinean theme steakhouse. The steak here is delicious, as well as the wine.
- Armonia Vegetarian Restaurant on Ave. Ecuado #2286. It is a good vegetarian restaurant, they have a buffet during lunch hours.
- Utama is on Av. 16 de Julio #1789, the top floor of Plaza Hotel. Great view of the city and good food, serving international type food and the local dish.
- Tambo Colonial is in Hotel Rosario. It is a great dinner spot. They serve a wide variety of foods for dinner such as international food and local food. The trout and salad are excellent here. It is not open for lunch. Breakfast buffet is included with room if your a hotel guests.
- Angelo Colonial on Calle Linares #922. Is in a colonial mansion with a variety of Bolivian antiques for decorations. They serve Bolivian food and some of the best coffee in La Paz. The place also has a post office, internet cafe, telephone, and tourist information office.
- 100% Natural located on Calle Sagarnaga #345. They are usually open all day and prices are cheap. They serve health and organic type foods. Such as fresh fruits, vegetables, sandwiches, and vegetarian burgers.
- Ram Jam located on Presbitero Medina, 2124. Serves American burgers, fish and veggie food.
- Eli's Pizza located on Ave. 16 de Julio #1495. They serve pasta and pizza, service is usually fast.
- Wall Street Cafe located on Ave. Camacho #1363, they serve good coffee and hamburgers. Prices are average and the cafe opens up at 8am.
