Cochabamba Travel Information
By Air

Cochabamba's airport is called Jorge Wilstermann International Airport. The airport is modern for Bolivian standards and is mainly served by Bolivian airlines such as Aerosur, LAB airlines and Amaszonas Airlines. You can find connections between all the major cities in Bolivia.

Cochabamba also has connections between other South American countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Columbia, Peru, Paraguay and Mexico City. There is an airport departure tax of $23 for international flights and 15Bs ($2)for domestic flights.

The airport is just a short taxi ride into the city center and costs about 24Bs ($3). Or you can take micro B (minibus), that cost 2 bolivianoes (.25 cents), which goes up Ave. Ayacucho to Plaza 14 de Septiembre, the city center.

By Bus

The bus terminal is located on the south side of the city on Ave. Ayacucho and Ave. Aroma, about a 15 minute walk to the city center or a taxi to the city center will cost around 4 bolivianoes (.50 cents). At the bus terminal there is a bus information kiosk that is open daily from 6am-10pm. There are cafe-resturants, phone boths and ATMs.

There are daily connections between all of the major cities such as La Paz, Santa Cruz, Sucre, Oruro, Potosi and many other smaller cities

Buses from La Paz take 8 hours costing 34Bs ($4.50) for a regular bus, you also have the option of taking a bus "cama," where seats recline for about 54Bs ($7). From Santa Cruz it takes 11 hours, costing about 38Bs ($5) for a normal bus and a bus "cama" costs 60Bs ($7.50). Buses from Sucre take 11 hours, costing about 30Bs ($4) for a normal bus and a bus "cama" costs 50Bs ($6.75).

Car Rentals

It is not recommended to rent a car in Bolivia because the risk of getting lost and the poorly maintained roads and other safety concerns. However, car rental in Bolivia is available. Here are some contacts below or checkout the car rental guide page.
